Signboard of Silver Pill, Indan Japanese Colonial Period Busan Museum
Indan is a silver-coated pellet-sized pill. It is slightly larger than a sesame seed. Indan was a popular Japanese import. The character depicted in all indan advertisements, who wore a Napoleon hat and sported a mustache, represented the influx of Japanese new culture into the Korean Peninsula at the time.
