The Goryeo Communication Company published "A Chronicle of a Korean Life" in 1929. This was the first French novel written by a Korean. In this novel, Seo Young-hae described the difficult circumstances of Korea after the Japanese invasion. The Declaration of Independence was translated into French at the end of the book.
